Uniform flow hydraulic parameters
Another free program developed by USDA Forest Service is available, WinXSPro,
from the link below. In addition, a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet developed by NRCS Water
Quality & Quantity is provided.
The following Microsoft Excel spreadsheet was developed by the NRCS Water Quality and Quantity
Technology Development Team, has been tested, and correctly produces the results of
Manning's equation for uniform flow in a cross-section. If the user does not wish to supply
Manning's n value or stream profile slope the spreadsheet still provides flow area, hydraulic
radius, top width, and hydraulic depth. The spreadsheet employs macros which are safe in this
version at the time downloaded. The user is cautioned that proper use of the spreadsheet
requires training in hydraulics.
