Ken is a National Pest Management Specialist on the National Water Quantity/Quality Team
located in Portland, Oregon. His college experience includes an Associates Degree of
Civil Technology, from Glendive Community College, a BS in Agronomy from Montana State
University, and Masters of Agriculture degree from Oregon State University. Ken grew up
on a diversified farm in eastern Montana and began his career with the Soil Conservation
Service in 1972. Job experience includes Conservation Technician, Soil Conservationist,
District Conservationist, Area Agronomist, Regional Agronomist located at the West National
Technical Center in Portland, Oregon, and Pest Management Specialist. Some of the national
projects that Ken has worked on include Wind Erosion Prediction software; the Revised
Universal Soil Loss Equation and the national pest management policy, practice standard and
WIN-PST risk analysis tool. Training courses that Ken has helped develop and deliver include
Wind Erosion Process, Prediction and Control; Windbreak Technology; CORE 4 Conservation
Practices; Nutrient and Pest Management Considerations in Conservation Planning; and the
Conservation Buffers course. Ken’s main job focus is currently on reducing the environmental
risks of pest management activities through the use of sound conservation planning.
