DRAINMOD is a subsurface drainage system evaluation model developed by Dr. Wayne Skaggs, North Carolina State University. DRAINMOD simulates hydrology of poorly drained soils and analyzes the effectiveness of subsurface drainage systems.

The most recent version, DRAINMOD-NII, simulates nitrogen transformation and fate, salt movement, as well as the analysis of wetland hydrology with respect to soil saturation during the growing season.

For non-agency use, please download DRAINMOD from North Carolina State University.

Installation of DRAINMOD on agency systems requires administrative approval. Download the DRAINMOD CCE version and contact Patrick H. Willey, NRCS, National Water Quantity and Quality Team, to register and obtain a user password.

Download DRAINMOD Climatic Data
for selected states from the National Water and Climate Center.
